The XVII International Conference on “Geospatial Approaches to Understanding the Changing World” was held in the conference hall and IT laboratory on May 26-31 and June 6, 2023.
The conference was opened by the rector of the State Technical University Chynybayev Mirlan Koichubekovich, the President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, the corresponding member, Prof. Abrahamatov K.E. and G.S. Isaev, Coordinator of the Erasmus+ National Office in the Kyrgyz Republic. Also, the participants were approached by Prof. Joseph Strobl, Academician of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and Professor. Luis Angel Ruiz, coordinator of the Erasmus+ GeoTAK project from the University of Valencia, Spain.
Over 100 representatives from Austria, Armenia, Belgium, Spain, India, Korea, Russia, Slovenia, the United States, Sweden, etc. attended the conference.
The main objective is to strengthen the Central Asian network of GIS professionals and to support sustainable socio-economic development of the region, and the main objectives are to unite scientists, teachers and practitioners of GIS of Central Asian countries and to promote international cooperation and knowledge exchange in GIS-education.
